I have written a few reviews since I started this page, so I decided to post them in addition to my new reviews.
After a suggestion from a friend I am putting my old reviews on here so they don't gather the perverbial dust. So here they are, in mostly chronological order. My earlier reviews are a bit mediocre, but I'm getting MUCH better at it.

Shrek
I went into this one with a this-is-probably-gonna-be-an-okay-movie mentalitly. But then I changed my mind. This has got to be one of THE FUNNIEST animated movies I have ever laid eyes on. The beginning is a litlle, A LITTLE slow, but it really picks up from there. With some slightly bizzare humor, Shrek is a great breath of fresh air in the arena of animated movies. While movies like Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and the Emperor's New Groove were "new" kinds of animated movies, they were made by Disney, which is automatically a barrier that will NEVER be crossed. But Shrek ain't made by Disney. And it is apparent from the start. Not in a terrible way, mind you, but, well, let's just say in a "different" way. I highly recommend it, and I guarentee you will enjoy it.

Pearl Harbor
Every one loves to feel patriotic. This movie does just that AND it blows stuff up! The love story at the beginning drags on for almost an HOUR, and half way through it I wanted to see stuff BLOW UP! The 'splosions did come, and when they did, I figured out it was worth the wait! Incredible special effects are in store, and you can bet that your girl (or yourself) will love the romance. I believe Pearl Harbor is a very well-rounded piece of Hollywood blockbuster-ism with good (and somewhat accurate) history stuck in there, and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a good, Saturday evening movie. Just take some tissues for you or your girl.

The Mummy Returns
The original Mummy was a great popcorn flick. It had action, humor, and great special effects. I wondered how The Mummy Returns would be, and I especially wondered how they would bring that pesky Imhotep (the mummy, a.k.a. Arnold Vosloo) back from the dead. I mean, didn't he die (again?) in the first one? Honestly, they didn't pull his actual return off too well, but you forget about that as the movie progresses. The great combination of comedy, action and FX works again for director Stephan Somers, though me does repeat a few things from the first flick (remember the face in the sand wave? He kinda did that again.) Over all, though, The Mummy Returns is as good as it's predecessor, and if you liked the first one, you'll like this one.

A.I.: Artificial Intelligence
This is one movie I expected to be good. Just all around good. I also KNEW that it was either going to be good or bad. I was wrong. This flick fell DEAD IN THE MIDDLE. It was good, yet bad. I think the pure fact that Stanley Kubrick had something to do with this movie made it a little less fun for me. I'll be the first to admit, I've never been a very big Kubrick fan since I saw A Clockwork Orange. I have nightmares about that movie. Not because of the subject matter or anything, but it's just . . . just . . . so . . . WEIRD!! Anyway, A.I. was a fun movie, though strange at times (there's that Kubrick influence!). It delivers GREAT performances, and my favorite characters by far have to Teddy and Giglo Joe. If you see it you'll agree. Jude Law's performance as a robot built for pleasure is, in and of itself, pleasurable. And the voice of Teddy is perfect for the character. The movie also makes you think about the pros and cons of robots and a.i.. If you are looking for a summer movie, go see Jurassic Park 3 or Shrek. But if you are looking for a GOOD movie that makes you think a little, go see A.I.. I mean hey, Steven Spielburg directed it, so it can't be all bad, can it?

Jurassic Park 3
Since all of you who came to this site are asking yourself, "What did Daniel think this movie was going to be like before he witnessed it?", I'll tell you. I expected a special effects extravaganza, a no-holds-barred computer-overloadin plethora of CGI. It was just that, and nothing more. I wasn't looking for a great story, strong characters or GREAT dialogue, so neither should you. Don't get me wrong, it's a good MOVIE, but a horrible FILM. The movie, in a nutshell, is an expensive B-movie, a formulated piece of Hollywood blockbuster-ism. I pretty much just wanted to see some more cool dinosaurs on the big screen, and that was achieved. It is MUCH better that The Lost World, but that's just my opinion. Don't go looking for a movie that delivers great performances and awesome plot like the original did, just go looking for a good time. You will not be disappointed.
