Lots of movies are coming out this summer, so come here to learn about the best, and the worst!
Every time I see a movie or DVD, I'll come here and write a review for it. If I have not seen a movie but know it's popular, I'll get a review from Entertainment Weekly (I usually agree with them). So enjoy what is here!

Chris Tucker
stars in "Rush Hour 2"
  Rush Hour 2

Review by Daniel Graves
I really liked the first rush (ha, get it?), so I was kinda looking forward to this coming out. It was just as funny as the first one, although most of the humor came from Chris Tucker, being the "stereotypical" black man in an all-oriental movie. This is not necessarily a bad thing, especially since the black lady behind me was laughing so hard at Tucker's every "stereotyped" joke I thought she was about to keel over. This didn't make me feel as bad about laughing at what he said and did, even though I didn't understand half of what he said, being the spoiled white boy that I am. But I kid, he was pretty friggin' funny. The movie over-all, though, was questionable. The plot held together only by humor and the constant "black man out of his element" thing from Tucker gave the movie a ho-hum feeling, but it is fun. As I like to say, it is a MOVIE, not a FILM. Although, in this Summer of Sequals, it is a small glimmer of hope in an otherwise unoriginal time. And, yes, the chick from "Crouching Tiger" is in this, and she barely says a line, kinda like Darth Maul or Lurch from the Addams Family. But, it's all good. I was kinda depressed that she didn't fly or run on extremely bendy trees, but, hey, what are ya gonna do? Overall, Rush Hour 2 is a fun comedy, and a good thing to go see on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Planet Of The Apes

Review by Daniel Graves
What kind of greasy idiot came up with the term "re-imagining"? This story is basically the EXACT same thing as the original except for a couple of things:
1)The people talk (unneccesary)
2)Only one scientist ape helps "the hero"
3)The beginning is different
4)The end is different (and stupid)
5)Markie Mark is in it (and doesn't do that great of a job)
Now, after seeing this movie, I STILL wonder, how in the world did they get funding for something as stupid as this?? The original is SO much better, and the ending isn't as INCREADIBLY STUPID as the one on this movie. Now, I know that alot of people say, "You shouldn't compare a sequal ("re-imagining", sorry) to the original. Well all you people, I'm sorry, but I do. Now, I have to give major props to them for the makeup. The make-up in this movie is INCREADIBLE. I belive it is worth going to see just for that. But, for no other reason. In my opinion, this has to be the worst movie of the summer after Pearl Harbor. And the hype didn't help my decision. If my hopes weren't so high before I saw it, then I might think a little differently. It was the exact same thing with Pearl Harbor. Anyway, one of the best things about the original was how much I "cared" about Charlton Heston's character. I didn't want anything to happen to him because I grew to respect him. In this version, I could care less about what happened to Markie Mark. If he died, then oh well. Wait for this to come out on video.

Die Hard
Five Star Collection

Review by Daniel Graves
What can I say? This is probably one of the best DVDs on the market today. Not only is Die Hard a great movie, but it now rates VERY HIGH on my list of favorite DVDs. I mean, this thing is LOADED. It's got a featurette, a really cool menu and a scene-editing workshop. And it is so freakin cool. You can choose different angles from a specific scene, choose which sounds will be louder or softer in the scene, then watch waht you put tegether. It is a good little intro to the field of film editing if you are interested in it. The movie is great anyway, so the extras just make it even better. If you are a DVD lover then this is a must-have.
